Pithkapoppu Saaru- (Hayacinth beans curry)

Tasty curry which goes very well with rice , chapathi , dosa or even ragi balls

Ingredients


Peeled Avarekayi - 500 gms


For Paste

Ginger - 1 Inch

Garlic -10 pods

Cloves - 4

Cinnamon - 1/2 inch

Coriander - 5 springs

Tomato - Small - 2 - ( Big - 1 1/2)

Onion - Small - 3 ( Big -2)

Coconut - 1 Cup or 1/4 coconut

Dhania powder - 1 tbsp

Chilli powder - 1 1/2 tbsp

Turmeric - 1 pinch

Cashews - 4



Seasoning

Onions - 1/2 - finely chopped

Curry leaves - 6 to 10

Garlic - 2 pods - finely chopped

Ginger - 1/4 inch - finely chopped

Mustard seeds

Oil


Recipe

  • Ground mixture

    • Take a pan

    • Put 2 tbsp oil

    • Fry cinnamon , cloves, onion, garlic , ginger and tomatoes

    • Cool the mixture

    • Add this to a mixie jar, add chilli powder, dhaniya powder, coconut , coriander and cashews- make it into a paste.

    • Keep aside.

Procedure

  • In a pan , Put 3 tbsp of oil

  • Add mustard seeds, once it splutters, add curry leaves , onion, garlic , ginger fry it

  • Now add Averakalu and fry well

  • To this add the ground mixture.

  • Fry for some time

  • Add salt, water, cook until the Averakayi is well cooked


How to eat

  • To be had with hot white rice and ghee for sure

  • Can be had with Chapathi

  • Can be had with Dosa
